your life: I slept with my brother-in-law; Ask Anna.

Byline: Anna

Q EVERYONE'S looking forward to our big family Christmas-except my brother-in-law and me.

Last year, at a friend's party my sister got so drunk that she had to be helped to bed early.

The rest of us went on drinking and I ended up in bed with her husband and I admit I enjoyed it.

He's a great lover but I love my partner more and my sister loves him. We agreed to keep quiet and forget it ever happened.

I think I can keep quiet, but I'm so guilty, how can I forget?

PAULA, Sutton Coldfield

A YOU obviously can't, Paula. Perhaps he can't either.

But that doesn't mean you can't both bear a secret which, if it got out, would affect your whole family, perhaps far more than it has you.

This is one of those occasions when guilt is your penance and penance should not be shared with the innocent.
