QI THINK my four-year-old son may be colour blind as he doesn't seem to recognise colours very well. Is there a test ?

AMAKE an appointment for your son to see an optician - or your doctor - for an eye test. Colour vision can be assessed in a number of ways, of which the Ishihara multi-dot test is a quick and useful screen.

QMY blood pressure is checked by my doctor. Are self monitors accurate?

ATECHNOLOGY has now made an accurate measurement more easy. The Braun PrecisionSensor has an active positioning system that can sense when the wrist is held at the right angle, close to the heart. It then activates automatically to give a reading as accurate as that taken by your doctor. For details contact the Braun Helpline on 0800 7837010.

QIS it safe to go on a fruit and vegetable diet - with no meat - for a month?

AA VEGETARIAN diet can be healthy and help you lose weight in the long term. Don't cut back on food intake too drastically, however. Eat beans, peas and nuts and consider soy products for protein. Drink at least a pint of semi-skimmed or skimmed milk per day, plus yoghurt, cheese and other dairy products for calcium.

QMY father has a constant tickly cough. Is it necessary to treat it with an anti-cough medicine?

AA COUGH is a protective reflex designed to stop unwanted material reaching the lungs. Productive coughs are beneficial and do not necessarily need treatment.

QMY daughter keeps getting conjunctivitis. Eye drops usually clear it up, but it always comes back. Is there a treatment I can buy over the counter that will help?

ATHERE are lots of treatments, but even the most mild cases of conjunctivitis should be checked by a doctor. If your daughter's vision seems disturbed, or there is pain, seek advice straight away in case symptoms are due to another eye condition needing urgent treatment.
