IT works for women - and some men - so why not turkeys? East Anglia firm Kelly Turkeys says its wax plucking trials have been a success, halving the number of people needed to pluck the birds.

Each turkey is dipped in hot wax for five seconds and Kellys says there has been no adverse effect on the consumer image of farm fresh turkeys. As the wax costs pounds 1500/tonne, its reclamation is vital and this year Kellys recycled 90% of its 2008 wax.
