uk NEWS: USA drowning.

A MUSIC teacher drowned while visiting the United States for a piano course, his college confirmed yesterday.

Mark Ray, head of keyboard studies at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, slipped and fell into the Yuba River in Nevada on Wednesday.

He was swept downstream and drowned after reportedly becoming pinned against a rock.

Mr Ray, 44, from the Wiltshire area, had been visiting Nevada City with two students for The Gold Country Piano Institute, a 12-day piano course.

He was invited as a visiting professor, while one of the students was performing at the event.
