TIRANA, Oct 27, 2010 (TUR) -- Turkey's Calik Holding, operating in areas of banking and telecommunications in Albania, carries out feasibility works to make investments in energy.

Electronic banking services of Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT), the bank of Calik Holding that offers services in Albania and Kosovo in finance sector, were promoted in Tirana.

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who addressed the promotion meeting, thanked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who supported Turkish businessmen that invested in Albania.

Berisha said start of BKT's banking services was important for Albania, and BKT increased its capital in the past 10 years.

Berisha said he wished his citizens would make banking transactions by mobile phone, "thus, internet will be widespread in the country."

Calik Holding Executive Board President Ahmet Calik told the same meeting that they convened to share the innovation that BKT fulfilled in personal and corporate banking.

"The investments carried out in Albania have strategic importance. We have full belief in this developing beautiful country. As the Calik Group, we attach great importance to technological investments particularly in finance and telecommunications," he said.

Calik said investments of the Holding in Albania amounted to 500 million USD, which showed their confidence in Albania.

Separately, according to a written statement released by BKT, the bank pioneered a transformation in banking area in Albania.

BKT joined Calik Holding five years ago. The bank has 68 branches in Albania and Kosovo.
