ONE thing you will never have to give children too much of a hard sell on is waffles.

You might have difficulty stopping them eating too many, though!

Cinnamon waffles Ingredients For the toffee sauce 25g butter 75g dark soft brown sugar 120ml double cream 15ml (1 tbsp) golden syrup. Preheat the oven to 160C (Gas mark 4) Method 1. Put the butter, sugar and half the cream in a pan. Bring to the boil and simmer for about five minutes until the sugar has dissolved.

2. Stir in the golden syrup, turn up the heat and let the mixture simmer for two to three minutes, stirring occasionally. 3. Remove from the heat and stir in the remainder of the cream. 4. Place two waffles in the oven for about four minutes, or until crispy on the outside. Remove and dust both sides with a mix of equal parts cinnamon and suga r.

5. Place a waffle on the plate top with vanilla ice cream, then place the other waffle on top and drizzle with the toffee sauce.
