thought for the day.

SILENCE is golden. In today's busy world, with its incessant noise, this certainly is true. In order to communicate with God we need silence.

Matthew 14:23 says that Jesus went up on a mountainside by himself to pray; Mark 1:35 that very early in the morning Jesus went off to a solitary place where he prayed. If Jesus needed solitude to pray, we surely need it.

Just as we need to constantly clear the weeds from our garden to make space for the flowers to grow, so we need to regularly clear the distractions within ourselves to make space for God's words.

Lent may be a good time to start the habit of daily prayer. We just need to decide on a place and time in the day when we'll not be interrupted to enjoy some golden moments.
