Image: High kicking heroine Best known for: Playing James Bond's love interest in 007 flick Tomorrow Never Dies Early life: Yeoh Chu-Kheng was born August 6, 1962, in Ipoh, Malaysia. She studied ballet from the age of four and later trained in London at the Royal Academy of Dance. She won a Miss Malaysia beauty pageant and a beauty contest in Melbourne, Australia. In 1984, she made a car commercial with Jackie Chan, and a year later she started making action films with Hong Kong company D&B Films, including In the Line of Duty, Butterfly and Sword and Twin Warriors. First billed as Michelle Khan, she later became Michelle Yeoh and a star in many action epics, landing the title 'Queen of martial arts'.

Career: She came to prominence in the West thanks to 007 epic Tomorrow Never Dies. Michelle went on to star in Ang Lee's Oscar winning martial arts drama Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, plus Memoirs of a Geisha, and also played an astronaut in Danny Boyle's sci-fi thriller Sunshine. Other big screen offerings include The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Babylon AD and she can soon be heard in the Kung Fu Panda sequel, The Kaboom of Doom. Michelle has also worked as a jury member at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival and is a supporter of Save China's Tigers Project. spotlight on... Michelle Yeoh Love life: Was married to Hong Kong businessman Dickson Poon from 1988-1992. Is engaged to F1 racing expert Jean Todt. Don't mention: The Matrix sequels. She had to turn down a role in the blockbusters because of a scheduling conflict. Quote: "Learning how to walk in a kimono was an art form in itself - if you didn't learn to do it properly it was like dragging a dead cat across the floor." Tonight: Far North, Channel 4, 1.55am.
