Blackburn was educated at Millfield Public School in Somesrset and Bournemouth College. He made his first public appearance while still at college, singing and playing guitar for the Ian Ralfini Dance Orchestra at the Bournemouth Pavilion. He read in the music press that disc jockeys were wanted by a radio station. He applied and got the job.
Love Life: Blackburn had his first kiss on top of Evening Hill in Poole, Dorset, with a girl called Annabel. He had his heart broken by a Playboy bunny girl called Lynn, then married actress Tessa Wyatt in 1972. They later divorced and he's been married to Debbie for more than a decade. Don't Mention: spotlight on... TONY BLACKBURN Career: Blackburn made his first radio broadcast on July 28, 1964, on pirate channel Radio Caroline. In 1966, he joined Radio London. He was the first DJ on Radio 1 in 1967 and spent the next 17 years at the network. TV work includes Time for Blackburn, Top of the Pops, Noel's House Party, The Bill, KYTV and The Brain Drain. He has his own show on BBC Radio London and was introduced to a whole new audience when he won the first series of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! in 2002. He was recently voted the nation's favourite Radio 1 Breakfast presenter ever.
