sentr@net Signs $4.2 Million Contract for At&t Data Services.
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 2000
Full range of services enables single network delivery of
voice, video and data to sentr@NET hospitality customers
sentr@NET, a leading vertical application services provider (VASP) to the hospitality market, has signed a $4.2 million, multi-year contract for AT&T Wide Area Network (WAN) services. sentr@NET will use AT&T Frame Relay, ATM and private line to deliver services to its hospitality customers.
sentr@NET uses an efficient WAN-centric approach to deliver services to hotels, management companies and franchisers ranging from high-speed guestroom Internet access to secure management company/franchiser-wide Intranets Guest services are a very important part of what sentr@NET's iNEThotelsm network provides, enabling property groups to deploy centralized services and applications including two-way reservation systems, e-purchasing systems, and shared yield management programs are equally valuable. The inetHotel network also opens the door for lower cost connectivity and communications services such as group-wide e-mail, toll-free inter-property voice services, and video training that can positively impact the management and operation of multiple property organizations.
"Our hospitality customers are looking for a single comprehensive global network infrastructure to enable management and operational efficiencies today and in the future, " said Ian Mackay, sentr@NET's president and CEO. "They recognize the value of our WAN-centric approach and understand the importance of building a network where reliability, bandwidth control, scalability, and security are guaranteed at reasonable costs. AT&T and its services are the backbone of our network. AT&T's Digital Link service, in many cases, allows properties to consolidate their voice trunk lines and data services onto a single T-1 significantly reducing their monthly costs while enabling both voice and data traffic."
The sentr@NET network will use AT&T's Frame Relay service as its flexible and upgradeable backbone. This network architecture is used by Fortune 1000 corporate networks where shared telecom, data services and centralized applications are cost-effective, highly efficient and easily leveraged for new services. AT&T Private Line and ATM services complete the network and provide operating cost savings at both the individual property and collective property level. sentr@NET avoids using independent ISPs or ISP-based networks to ensure guaranteed, manageable service levels to its hospitality customers and so they can deliver similar quality service to their end customers - guests, property owners and franchisees. The global availability of the AT&T services allows the iNEThotel network to reach properties of all sizes and in all locations with consistent quality, scalable performance and reasonable costs.
"With our Ecosystem for ASPs, AT&T has taken the lead in delivering the networking expertise that Application Service Providers need to build their businesses," said Bill Archer, president of AT&T Growth Markets. "We're pleased that sentr@NET has selected AT&T data networking as the core of its services to the hospitality market. Whether it's dedicated hosting, intelligent content distribution, storage services or the high-speed data/IP backbone at the heart of the network, AT&T is networking the new economy."
"The iNETHotel network extends the real-time operating environment we are currently using for our full-service properties to our Baymont Inns & Suites and Woodfield Suites. Having all of our properties on one state-of-the-art system will improve our operating efficiency while at the same time providing daily-fee high-speed Internet access for our guests," Jane Durment, Chief Information Officer for Marcus Corporation. Milwaukee-based Marcus Corporation is a leading management company and franchiser of 185 hotels and resorts.
The flexibility and scalability of inetHotel networks is reflected in the business plans offered to hotel management companies, franchisers, franchisees and owners. Offering zero-cost revenue-sharing programs to full-service flat-fee programs, sentr@NET allows in-term contract adjustments to meet competitive and technology changes. All inetHotel networks include ongoing marketing support, property-specific Web site development, advertising programs, 24x7 guest and staff help lines, and 24 x 7 network management and maintenance.
Founded in 1997, sentr@NET is a privately-held vertical application service provider that delivers high-speed Internet access for guest and meeting rooms to hoteliers, management companies and franchisers as the first stage of the wide area networking and application-sharing services the company offers. sentr@NET is installing inetHotel networks to support over 400 hotels and resorts, representing 40,000 rooms, under contract today. sentr@NET networks are supported by strategic relationships with the leading service, software and hardware suppliers including AT&T (NASDAQ: T), WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM), Tut Systems (NASDAQ: TUTS), Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), and Equant (NYSE: ENT).
