round UP: Standstill here until October 21.

CRIPPLING 20-day standstill curbs on Welsh livestock will not be ease until October 21 at the earliest, Wales' chief vet has said.

Dr Christianne Glossop told a stakeholders meeting in Cardiff the restriction would not be relaxed until 20 days had elapsed since the last FMD breakdown.

As the disease was last confirmed on September 30 in Surrey, October 21 is the earliest the switch to a six-day regime could be made.

However FMD restrictions in Scotland will be lifted next Wednesday.
