A MAN who sold porn movies at a car-boot sale was condemned by magistrates.

Nigel Millage was fined pounds 200 after Coventry magistrates yesterday took into account the fact he admitted the offences and was living on disability benefit - he could have been fined up to pounds 20,000 for each offence.

Millage, aged 46, pleaded guilty to ten offences of selling unclassified videos and DVDs.

He had been spotted last June by trading standards officers at Mercia car boot sale in Lockhurst Lane.

Magistrates' chairman Janet Jones said: "This is an extremely serious case with potential for grave consequences for the people of Coventry.

"I wonder if you realise the harm that you may have caused in homes in Coventry with your actions and elsewhere where you have also been selling these things."

Vicki Buckley, prosecuting, said trading standards officers noticed people crowded around the boot of a Honda Civic, adding: "They were able to see DVDs and videos offered for sale which appeared to be copies and not labelled."

Police were called and 117 DVDs and videos were seized.

Millage, of Skipton Gardens, Stoke Heath, Coventry, said he bought the films for pounds 1 and sold them for pounds 3.

He told the court: "I realise what I did was wrong. I have had time to reflect. It was just to make money. It is my first time in trouble and hopefully it will be my last."
