pounds 1390 Orange outrage; THE PEOPLE SHERIFF CATCHING COWBOYS! WE FIGHT FOR YOU! BILL SHOCKER.

Byline: By EDDIE FITZMAURICE

HARD-UP student Rachel McKeown was hit with a pounds 1,390 bill after her mobile was nicked in a club.

Rachel, 20, failed to tell Orange of the theft straight away - and her phone was used for hundreds of calls to Romania, Italy and Ireland.

Her mum Dawn, 43, said: "She was frightened to tell us about the theft then a 30-page itemised bill arrived. Orange said she had to pay the lot and she's had panic attacks."

Care worker Dawn, of Wirral, Merseyside called in The People Sheriff - and Rachel can relax again.

The Sheriff contacted Orange who agreed to slash the bill to pounds 670 and work out an easy payment plan.

Rachel, who plans to study mental health nursing at university next year, had her phone and purse taken while clubbing in Liverpool.

An Orange spokesman said: "She reported the phone stolen after nine days.

"It is the customer's responsibility to tell us as soon as their phone has gone missing. However we do sympathise."

Rachel said: "Thanks, Sheriff. This a huge relief."
