OUT OF LINE SPORTS INTRODUCES CABLE-ACTIVATED
 BRAKE SYSTEM FOR IN-LINE SKATES
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Out of Line Sports, Inc. is introducing the in-line skate industry's first easy-to-use, cost- effective, cable-activated brake system at the Ski Industries America Las Vegas show.
The Ultimate Roll Control Hardware (URCH) brake, which will retail for $29.95, can retrofit almost every skate on the market, including those in which the brake housing is integrated with the frame. Out of Line Sports will provide demonstrations of URCH at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, and Friday, March 5, at the show. SIA convention attendees can also view a video of the product at Booth No. 6747 during regular show hours.
The brake is designed to offer both recreational and expert skaters more control, according to Dave Mitchell, the product's inventor and president of Out of Line Sports. Lack of adequate braking power and the rising number of accidents and injuries have become major issues in the development of in-line skating, now the fastest-growing sport in the United States.
"One of the industry's major skate manufacturers has called our product the best brake they have seem among nearly 200 braking systems," says Mitchell. "We believe our brake will expand the in-skating market significantly. It is the only inexpensive speed control system that allows a skater to keep all of his or her wheels on the ground at all times."
The brake system, invented by Mitchell, is protected under several U.S. patents. Out of Line Sports has also filed for international protection.
Out of Line Sports has also announced an exclusive agreement with Orleander USA to distribute that company's in-line skate computer. The agreement makes Out of Line Sports the sole distributor of in-line skate computers worldwide. The company had already been operating under an exclusive distribution agreement with Avocet Inc., the only other manufacturer of in-line skating computers.
Out of Line Sports, Inc., is a manufacturer and distributor of sports accessories for in-line skating, currently the fastest growing sport in the U.S. Based in Englewood, the company markets its products to specialty retailers and mass merchandisers.
