SWEDISH JOFA SKI RACE HELMET OFFERED BY RELIABLE GLENS FALLS, N.Y., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The advent of helmets as
protective headgear for skiing may be following the sport of bicycling where helmets have become very popular. Reliable Racing Supply has been offering protective headgear for skiing for over ten years.
Reliable has distributed for a number of manufacturers. Currently they are aligned with JOFA of Sweden. Previously, Reliable Racing had offered the Bell helmet program made in the United States. Tom Jacobs, CEO of Reliable Racing, recalled: "I wrote a business plan for Bell on how to approach protective headgear for the U.S. skiing market. When I saw the Swedish JOFA helmet, I realized they had already done my business plan. We joined forces.
It's been a marvelous marriage."
JOFA makes a very light, comfortable product which is extremely versatile, Jacobs said. The helmet can be equipped for different types of competitive ski events simply by adding or removing components. Their helmet for just plain skiing is very "wearable," he said. Statistical studies for head injuries from skiing are rare. The only noteworthy study comes from Sweden and was completed in 1979. "The Swedes are definitely ahead as far as technology goes for protective headgear for all types of snow skiing," said Jacobs. "We're very happy with the JOFA product, as are our customers in the U.S. and Canada." -0- 2/22/93 /CONTACT: Jeffrey T. Jacobs, president of Reliable Racing Supply, 518-793-0526/
