1993 SIA SHOW SOLD OUT: BOOTH AND BUYER NUMBERS UP SIGNIFICANTLY
MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Booth space for the 1993 Ski Industries America (SIA) Ski and Outdoor Sports Show is completely sold out, according to SIA Trade Show Director, Bill Travis.
The SIA show, the world's largest display of ski and outdoor sports products under one roof, will unveil members' new product lines March 1-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Ski Industries America is a national, non-profit trade association for ski and outdoor sports product suppliers.
"We expect an overall attendance increase of 30 percent," said Travis. "We still have two weeks to go before the show and we have already exceeded last year's total number of pre-registered buyers."
According to Travis, the member-owned SIA Show, has attracted 552 manufacturers and suppliers occupying 3,815 booths. The Sports Show portion of the total exposition is up an impressive 17 percent from the 1992 show. the number of individual exhibitors is up 21 percent.
The spirit of the SIA '93 show is in keeping with the general economic upswing of the ski industry over the past year. Skier visits at America's ski resorts rose 8.8 percent to 50.8 million during the 1991-92 season while ski area revenues increased 10.2 percent. Wholesale orders for this season jumped 15.2 percent. "While other segments of the travel industry are still mired in rough economic situations the ski industry is pulling itself toward profitability," said SIA President David Ingemie.
