BLIZZARD INTRODUCES NEW FTA SKI LAS VEGAS, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Blizzard is introducing its
newest ski, the FTA (Flex Tuning Absorber), to the U.S. market at the annual SIA show in Las Vegas.
"The FTA is the result of years of R&D work," said Blizzard's president, Franz Schenner. "It incorporates Blizzard's Absorber Technology and takes it a step further by allowing the skier to adjust the ski to suit their ability, style, weight and the snow conditions. We feel that it represents a significant breakthrough in ski design." The FTA allows everyone from an advanced intermediate to a top level expert to ski on the same ski. Because the flex distribution can be adjusted, everyone can get the same sensational performance out of the same ski. Using the proven Absorber concept, Blizzard suspended a high- strength, carbon fiber flex plate on the top of the ski and attached it to a finger-friendly adjustment knob. As the knob is tightened, the ski's flex becomes firmer; back it off, and the flex becomes softer. The FTA system helps to isolate the binding from the ski, so it has no effect on the pressure distribution of the ski. In addition, the FTA acts as a dampening device to filter out unwanted impacts. It also raises the skier's boot off the ski, thus giving the skier more leverage for increased edging power. Blizzard North America's general manager, Bruno Beinder, commented, "The FTA allows the dealer to demonstrate the feature at the point of sale. When the skier gets on the snow, the performance advantage is immediately obvious." -0- 2/26/93 /CONTACT: Bruno Beinder of Blizzard, 603-298-6000/
