THE VERTECH SKI INSTRUMENT IS DESIGNED TO QUANTIFY
 THE VERTICAL SPORT OF SKIING
PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Avocet, a Silicon Valley, Calif. based designer and manufacturer of precision electronic instruments and accessories for the bicycle market, has begun shipping the Vertech Ski, the first electronic wrist instrument to accurately measure ski performance.
For the skier, endurance is measured in total vertical feet skied. The Vertech Ski incorporates state-of-the-art aircraft altimeter technology (temperature compensated) with Avocet's patented system. The instrument measures total vertical feet skied during a ski run and for the day or week, records number of runs skied, and measures altitude. In addition, it measures current, maximum, and average vertical descent rate and elapsed descent time. It also has a thermometer, barometer, and chronometer.
A number of innovative design features enhance the Vertech Ski's operation even under the most severe weather conditions. The extra-wide elastic wrist band is fully adjustable to fit over any ski jacket giving instant access to performance data while skiing. The large PosiClick function and option buttons at the base of the instrument are positioned for easy operation while wearing ski gloves. Extra bold numbers on the Vertech Ski's display are easy to read under varied weather conditions. An optional Street band for everyday wear is also available.
The Vertech Ski by Avocet is essential equipment for skiers who want to quantify their performance and progress on the ski slopes.
The Vertech Alpine, a similar instrument for backpackers, mountaineers, trekkers and other outdoor enthusiasts, is scheduled to ship in mid-March.
For a demonstration of these revolutionary instruments, visit Vertech at the SIA Show in Las Vegas, at Booth 4624. We will also exhibit at ISPO in Munich, Germany, Feb. 25-28, at Hall 14, Stand 14030, and Sports Japan in Chiba, Japan, March 1-4, at Stand 5-56.
