otr .. OFF THE RECORD: All smiles - but Oasis keep on bickering in Rio.

THE warring Gallagher brothers seemed to be papering over the cracks in their band as they lazed by their Rio hotel pool yesterday.

With the rest of Oasis, they are in the Brazilian city to play at a rock festival, headlined by Axl Rose's Guns 'n'Roses .

The band are also writin songs for their next album and that brought the simmering tension between the brothers to the surface as Noel's comments about Liam's song-writing abilities showed.

He said: "Liam says he's written some songs that are better than the ones on The Beatles' Revolver. It's bulls**t. Nobody is capable of writing anything better than the songs on Revolver. The songs that Liam's written are alright. Maybe they're better than the songs that I was writing when I was his age.

"But he's not as good as John Lennon. He's not even as good as Jack Lemmon, God bless 'im."
