Before you start curling, wash and blow dry your hair. Use a small amount of heat protection spray and comb through. Try Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray, PS6.95 by Philip Kingsley.
Separate your hair into sections, no bigger than 3cm wide. For longer hair, use thinner sections.
Place the Babyliss Perfect Curl, pictured bottom, PS177 (perfectcurl.co.uk) on a section of the hair, just above ear-height, clamp shut, and wait for the magic to happen. Repeat with each section, until your whole head is curled.
Run your fingers through your curls to give a tousled effect then sprinkle roots with a thickening powder, like Aveda''s Pure Abundance Hair Potion, PS19.
