THE Imagine Festival reached a spectacular finale with the annual Liverpool Children's Festival at William Brown Street, right. The festival was organised by the Liverpool Young Culture Action Group, which was founded in 2000.

BARN owls nested at martin Mere for the first time in 16 years, left. Despite frequenting the reserve to hunt for food, they had failed to make the West Lancashire sanctuary their home.

PERFORMERS opened their production of a famous Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera at St George's Hall, right. The 40-strong cast, from Lormac Productions, began a two-week run of Trial by Jury, which poked at the legal profession, to raise cash for the Grade IListed building's heritage centre.
