live reviews: Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival The Ferry, Glasgow, Sept 20 ****; singles and albums.

Byline: JIM McGHEE

AN all-day celebration of the late Irish guitar maestro, in what would have been his 60th year, made the dance floor difficult to resist into the wee small hours.

While the non-appearance of Rory's brother Donal was disappointing, the talent dazzled. Glasgow's Defender were on form while Against The Grain from Dumfries proved eyebrow-raising newcomers.

Headliners Secret Agent, from Norfolk, fronted by Tony Edwards, got the crowd going with a set that included Rory's earlier work from Taste as well as the solo classics.

Tony looks nothing like Rory - close your eyes and the voice could be his.
