LEWIS HAMILTON has been accused of hypocrisy by former McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.
The Formula One star, who is on course to clinch a sixth World Championship title, has been particularly vocal of late. On social media, Hamilton has urged the public to turn vegan, having switched to a plantbased diet himself back in 2017.
After helping launch a vegan burger restaurant in London in September, he has used his huge influence on Instagram to spread his message.
The 34-year-old (top) has also issued some worrying statements to his followers, including one post which suggested he felt like "giving up on everything".
But Alonso, who had a heated relationship with Hamilton during their time together on the track and as partners at McLaren, said: "I think I would keep my eating habits to myself."
The Spaniard went on: "We all know the lifestyle that Lewis has, and we know that Formula 1 drivers take 200 planes a year. So you can't then say 'don't eat meat'."
Hamilton could seal his sixth world title at the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend. The Brit needs to outscore Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas by at least 14 points to take the crown.
