SIR - In response to the slander of the Elan Valley. The game of football in Powys through the League of Wales has never been so strong.

Newtown, Caersws, Rhayader and even Oswestry have quality football on their doorstep.

I expect many youngsters to come through the ranks of this part of the world in the future.

Back in the pre-LoW days there was a Welsh speaking player from this county, Kevin Sheedy, with one of the sweetest left feet in the game. He played for both the red and blue of Merseyside but he slipped through the Welsh net and played for Jack Charlton's Ireland.

The LoW will virtually guarantee that players of his calibre will wear the red of Wales in the future.

When are the BBC and S4C going to discuss the lack of a Welsh football magazine show?
