ADAM HASTINGS insists he can step up into the stand-off role vacated by his role model Finn Russell at Glasgow Warriors during the upcoming season.
The 21-year-old playmaker knows they are big boots to fill after star Russell headed to France to play for Racing 92.
But he is in confident mood having earned his first Scotland caps during the summer.
Son of Scotland legend Gavin, Adam said: "Finn going has left a hole but someone needs to step up and take that role. I'd love to do it.
"Finn was really good to me last season and he was texting me through the summer tour wishing me well. I still see him as a role model. There's a few boys gunning for that No.10 spot at the Warriors.
"Pete Horne has played a lot at 10 and obviously has a lot more experience than me. It's the same with Ruaridh Jackson and Brandon Thomson can play there too. We'll all push each other."
Meanwhile, despite being a player likely to be picked out as a dangerman by opponents in the Guinness PRO14 and in Europe this year, Warriors scrum-half George Horne claims he will not change anything about his game.
The flair way he plays had Warriors and Scotland fans off their seats in 2017-18 and the 23-year-old said: "It will be different this season but I'm going to try and treat it the same.
"I will just focus hard on my training and off-thefield stuff and when the games come just try to nail my performances."
