festive gifts at St Giles Church.

PROFILEEarly CHRISTMAS comes a little early in Wrexham this year. The St Giles Sessions, the successful concert series in celebration of the Wrexham Year of Culture, takes a festive bow on December 9. Wrexham stalwarts Camera (pictured) will be the latest to headline in the town's atmospheric St Giles Church.

From Radiohead and Elbow, to Wilco and Woody Guthrie, the band take influences from all genres of music and carve out a sound that organisers describe as powerful and epic as it is intimate and heartfelt. The surrounds of St Giles you'd expect will only serve to exaggerate this.

The group were courted by major record labels in UK before signing to independent label My Kung Fu for the release of their debut album.

They also played in front of 60,000 people at the Millennium Stadium for the 2005 Tsunami Relief benefit concert. Camera are a perpetually solid force.

The evening will be a chance to catch the band in the much more intimate and atmospheric surrounds of the Parish church. Attendees are told to expect the usual collaborations and surprises St Giles sessions have become so well known for over the past year.

The church is located at One College Street, Wrexham. Doors open at 7pm on Friday December 9. The music will begin at 7.30pm. Admission is pounds 10 and pounds 7 for concessions.

They are available in person from Wrexham Tourist Information, Yale's Caf Bar and The Foundry, Wrexham or on-line at For more info visit stgilessessions.
