* A PARTY of 50 ex-service personnel including members of the City of Coventry Ex-Service Standard Bearers Association with 11 standards spent last weekend in Belgium.

The standards were paraded at the Menin Gate - a memorable visit. There is no meeting of our City of Coventry Standard Bearers Association this month. The next scheduled date is Wednesday, September 21.A REMINDER that any special duty attendance will be advised by our general secretary, Geoff Wells on 024 7672 0661. My Coventry branch, The Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association also does not have a meeting this month. Next assembly date for the "Woffers" is Monday, September 5 at the Nursery Tavern HQ, Lord Street at noon. Like all ex-service association branches our member total is low. If you served in either of our amalgamated service regiments your membership will be welcome. A call to me on the above telephone number will provide membership detail (no charge).NUNEATON & STOCKINGFORD branch of the Royal British Legion have a members' meeting on Thursday of this week at the Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre, Nuneaton, at 7.30pm for 8pm start. If you served in any branch of HM forces you are entitled to join the RBL.

FRIDAY brings the monthly meeting of the Warwickshire branch of the Korean Veterans Association at the Bedworth Ex-servicemen's Club at 11am. Laurie Payne on 024 7634 1815 is the contact for membership and welcomes Korean veterans.MEMBERS of the Coventry branch, Royal Army Medical Corps also have a meeting on Friday to be held at the Royal Warwicks Club, Tower Street, at 11am. THE Coventry branch, Royal Artillery Association, hold a members' meeting on Sunday next, 21st, at the Royal Warwicks Club at 11am. If you served as a "gunner", Sid Watson, president, extends a welcome to you.

THE War Research Society is organising a trip to Arnhem from September 16 to 20 to mark the 67th anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World War. Veterans and their relatives are being invited to a pilgrimage and will be eligible for financial help under the Lottery-funded Heroes Return scheme.
