* A PARTY of 50 ex-service personnel including members of the City of Coventry Ex-Service Standard Bearers Association with 11 standards spent last weekend in Belgium.
The standards were paraded at the Menin Gate - a memorable visit. There is no meeting of our City of Coventry Standard Bearers Association this month. The next scheduled date is Wednesday, September 21.A REMINDER that any special duty attendance will be advised by our general secretary, Geoff Wells on 024 7672 0661. My Coventry branch, The Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association also does not have a meeting this month. Next assembly date for the "Woffers" is Monday, September 5 at the Nursery Tavern HQ, Lord Street at noon. Like all ex-service association branches our member total is low. FRIDAY brings the monthly meeting of the Warwickshire branch of the Korean Veterans Association at the Bedworth Ex-servicemen's Club at 11am. THE War Research Society is organising a trip to Arnhem from September 16 to 20 to mark the 67th anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World War. Veterans and their relatives are being invited to a pilgrimage and will be eligible for financial help under the Lottery-funded Heroes Return scheme.
