THURSDAY brings the monthly meeting of the Coventry branch of the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Association at the Royal Warwicks Club at 8pm.

ON Saturday, the Royal Military Police branch holds its meeting, also at the Royal Warwicks Club at 12.30pm.

BAGINTON branch, Royal British Legion members assemble at the RBL Club, Kimberley Road next Sunday at 11am.

NEXT Tuesday brings the Coventry branch, Royal Signals Association on parade for a meeting at the TA Centre, Radford Road and the Fleet Air Arm members fall in for at the Royal Naval Club, Tamworth, Both meetings commence at 8pm.

THERE are now 25 ex-service and Royal British Legion branches within our area and all need new members to administer the branches and visit veterans who are housebound and would like to meet a fellow ex-serviceman to recall memories of service days. Give me a call on the above telephone number.

A FINAL reminder to members of the Korean Veterans Association branch of the national parade and drumhead service on Sunday at the National Memorial Aboretum, Alrewas at 11.30am.

COVENTRY branch of the Royal Artillery Association has its annual dinner on Saturday, September 29, at the Sphinx Social Club. Tickets are pounds 18.50 and there will be a four-course dinner with wine. Music will be provided by Ron Techniques. Call Frank Collins on 024 7663 7102 or Mr R Gould on 024 7646 2583 by August 19 to reserve your ticket. Cheques to be made payable to Coventry branch, Royal Artillery Association.

THE autumn and winter lunch-time concerts to be held at the refurbished Belgrade Theatre and produced by ex-REME serviceman Brian Walker and Les Wilson have now been confirmed. The first will be on September 13, with 60s/70s singer Craig Douglas. Shows will commence at 1.30pm with meals available from noon. The Theatre Box office is now open for bookings.

A RECENT holiday to the Costa del Sol's Benalmadena found an excellent bar, Sad Sam's in the town centre owned by Gary and Sandra, who between them served 42 years in the REME and ACC. All ex-service personnel are made welcome with a 10 per cent discount.

Open seven days a week from 10.30am. For REME branch members, a good location for your AGM?

THE Ministry of Defence has launched a new agency aimed at improving personnel, pensions, welfare and support services for members of the armed forces and veterans. The new agency is intended to provide a range of "through-life" personnel services to the UK's serving and veteran community. THE HMS Ganges Naval Association holds this year's annual meeting at the Britannia Hotel in the city on Saturday. Members will later meet at the Royal Warwicks Club in the evening. If you served at the naval establishment and are not members of the association you will be made most welcome.
