| On Wednesday, October 18, 1.05pm, in Beulah Church, Rhiwbina, Cardiff, tenor Rhodri Jones will be performing Welsh songs, Lieder and operatic arias. Rhodri, 2017 winner of the Ian Stoutsker prize at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, will be accompanied by Michael Pollock, the distinguished coach at the college. Tickets on the door, PS5.

|The Cardiff Friends of the Welsh National Opera has organised a concert with Donald Maxwell and students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to which everyone is welcome whether new or old to music excerpts from opera. Held at St Mary's Church in Whitchurch, Cardiff, on Thursday, October 19. Entry PS10, pay at the door. Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

|Paintfest Open evening is on Friday, October 20, at Garth Olwg Campws, St Illtyds Road, Church Village, 7pm-9pm. A free event showing works of the three community art groups using the centre, free refreshments provided in a pleasant social setting. Enjoy the work of talented amateur artists. |The Royal Welsh Regimental Comrades Association City of Cardiff branch meets at the Sergeants' Mess at Maindy Barracks on the third Friday of every month at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Next meeting is October 20.

Former and serving members of the Royal Welsh, Welch Regiment, South Wales Borderers, Royal Welch Fusiliers, Royal Regiment of Wales and any affiliated territorial and regular battalions are welcome. Call 029 2061 8115 or 029 2054 9577.

|A second-hand book sale of fiction, non-fiction and children's books will take place at Cowbridge Scout Hall, behind the sheep market on Saturday, October 21, from 10.30am till 3.30pm.

| A Christmas coffee morning/ bazaar is being held on Saturday, October 21, 10am-noon, at the Canolfan, Beulah Road, Rhiwbina, Cardiff, in aid of Marie Curie, Holme Tower, Penarth, a Christmas coffee morning/bazaar. Admission 50p.
