| IF a cycling hobby is becoming an obsession, enter a competition with the chance to win a place at Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador's professional training camp in Gran Canaria this October.

Sponsored by technical fabric supplier Polartec, the competition will run from August 29 to September 26. Entrants are required to cycle 1,000 kms in one month or less in order to be in with a chance of winning.

| ON August 26, pet owners will celebrate National Dog Day. But it seems many are already treating their pooches to a summer break They say a dog is a man's best friend, and that's especially true when it comes to travel. New research by Direct Line Pet Insurance reveals 38% of vets have reported an increase in requests for pet passports over the last 12 months.

Now, one in 10 pet owners take their dogs abroad on holiday and, unsurprisingly, their choice of destination is heavily influenced by the dog-friendly facilities available.

The insurance company says the most popular places are French resorts La Roche and Les Sables, Antequera in Spain and Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.
