dvd reviews: live reviews - Damien Rice SECC, Glasgow Oct 4 ****.

Byline: MONICA WARMINGTON

HAVING attempted to visualise Damien Rice performing in Glasgow's cavernous SECC main hall, I had anticipated a struggle.

The very nature of his melodic, delicate music surely demanded a significantly more intimate venue.

But from the moment the lights dimmed and Rice launched into the much-loved B-side, The Professor, his uncanny ability to connect intimately with his audience became apparent.

The unwavering strength of his vocals, hauntingly embroidered with both guitar and a mournful solo cello, filled every knook and cranny of the hall beautifully.
