Damas, the world renowned jeweller and watch retailer, presents acclaimed Swiss watchmaker Quinting's Baselworld 2009 launch of two astonishing watch collections - the Sirius line and the Black Top. While the Sirius completes Quinting's three current lines and places the brand at the very pinnacle of its highly exclusive Transparency collection, the Black Top is a new collection that plays upon the concept of matter and non-matter where black offsets the transparency of metallised sapphire to present a captivating line of watches for both women and men.

Daring is an aspect that defines this watchmaker which has constantly strived and succeeded in just 15 years to push back the frontiers of creativity through a combination of traditional Swiss know-how and leading edge technology. Its models are sold in more than 25 countries all over the world and its star clientele include the world's leading personalities like Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan and members of the Swiss government.

Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Damas Jewellery commented, "Unique in many ways, Quinting is the only brand in the world to fashion watches out of transparent sapphire that also has its own manufacture creating its own movements. For over a century, several of the leading watchmakers dreamt of creating an entirely transparent watch. And it was a privilege won by Quinting in 1993 when after seven years of research it presented the very first prototype of a chronograph that was totally transparent with a metallised sapphire movement that immediately won it admiration. With this it has carved a special niche for itself in the highly elite circle of luxury watches. I'm positive that watch connoisseurs and amateurs will be particularly delighted by its new Sirius and Black Top collections."

Time truly plays an exciting game of transparency in Quinting's watches blending technological mastery, unique aestheticism and visionary excellence. The mystery of its movement remains an enigma in the watchmaking world even today. It is the only brand to develop and patent a totally revolutionary movement made of transparent sapphires that is impossible to imitate. All the components in it are especially realized for Quinting and assembled by hand in accordance with the purest Swiss watchmaking tradition in its manufacture of St Blaise, near Neuchatel, in Switzerland. The exceptional technology places its watch collections among the most sophisticated and also complicated models of the watchmaking market.

The Sirius -- a blazing comet Named after the Sirius star, the most bewitching star after the sun as seen from the earth, this new model Quinting radiates a magnificent luminosity. Its design reminds one of its Chronographs with its wide case but the complete transparency of the dial infuses a unique light that comes from within. It is available in gold, platinum and stainless steel and can also be set with diamonds and the colours of the dial and the bracelet can be proposed in six exciting versions of black, white, red, blue, chocolate and steel. Composed of 108 pieces its movement contains 8 sapphires, 3 of which are mobile and 5 stationary.

Black Top Quinting dresses up its Chronograph, Transparency, Quardinale and Sirius watches in a glittering glossy black that plays upon the concept of matter and anti-matter or the play of opposites to present dramatic and powerful models for everyday exclusivity. In its gold and steel models it has kept the black case but put on it a gold or steel one endowing them with arresting good looks.

The mysterious Chronograph Quinting, the mysterious Quardinale and the Transparency are the three lines on which the brand established its credentials. All of them are built on the concept of transparency but each enjoys a unique identity of its own. The first is a sports model of magnetic strength and sophistication with a case width of 43 .8 mm for both men and women in stainless steel, yellow, pink or white 18k gold accompanied by a crocodile leather or a steel bracelet. Each Chronograph is unique and has an engraved individual number on the back of the case. While its Transparency launched in 2004 is a complication model that has a smaller case of 39mm that comes in more subtly sophisticated designs for both men and women. Its dial can be a round or octagonal shape, polished, brushed or set with diamonds in stainless steel or 18k gold.

The Quardinale model was launched in 2006 and is a fusion of the first two with a robust case and wide transparent dial. Available in gold, platinum or stainless steel it can also be set with diamonds and the colours of the dial and the bracelet can be proposed in 6 different versions of black, white, red, blue, chocolate and steel.
