cluedup mum HOW TO TRADE YOUR CHILD'S OLD CAR SEAT FOR A DISCOUNTED NEW ONE.
WHEN the new car seat law comes in, many parents will be looking to change their old seats for new ones.
There's a deal on at the moment offering 20 per cent off new high back car seats when you trade in your old booster cushion, meaning parents could save up to PS32.
The offer is currently running at Halfords, which has stores in Bordesley Green, Perry Barr, Erdington and Selly Oak.
You simply have to place your click and collect order for your new high back booster, using voucher code ''saferseat'' at the checkout, to get a 20 per cent discount.
Then, to qualify for the discount, take your old cushion booster with you when you collect your new high back booster from the store. The offer runs until November 30 whilst stocks last.
New laws coming in this year mean that backless booster seats will no longer be suitable for many children in the UK. At the moment, children weighing as little as 15kg (2st 4lbs) - that's around three years old - can travel in backless booster seats.
But the new rules, due to be introduced in December, will only approve these seats for children taller than 125cm and weighing more than 22kg (3st 6.5lbs), which is roughly around the age of seven. A high back booster seat gives children head and side impact protection.
According to experts, you should always change your child's car seat if you've either been in an accident, the seat has reached the end of its shelf life (five to ten years), your child has outgrown the seat, it's damaged or it offers insufficient protection.
