LIVERPOOL'S Marina & Harbour Club was the venue for the first Liverpool Chamber networking event of the year.

The event took on a new format for 2011, with a focus on two sessions of table networking before and after dinner.

More than 40 guests took the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal and make good business contacts.

Following smash hit productions The Salon, Night Collar and 4 Girls and a Caravan, St Helens Theatre Royal have produced the hilarious Scouse comedy, The Ciggie Run.

The show, which opened last week, is written by John Evans and directed by Sylvie Gatrill, and has a stellar cast including local favourites, Brookside's Louis Emerick, Come Fly With Me's Ozzie Yue, Wish FM's Kev Seed and comedian Micky Finn.

The show started off as one of a series of short plays that cabbie-turned-playwright John Evans created to be showcased at the Casa, in Liverpool, and will be at the Theatre Royal until February 13.

Former X Factor winner turned soul diva Alexandra Burke was in Liverpool this week for a gig at the Arena, and by the looks of things she made the most of her time here. She was spotted making her way through Liverpool One laden with shopping bags.

Alexandra wasn't the only star out and about. Former Happy Mondays dancer Bez dropped in at the weekend to play a set at Tribeca, on Berry Street.

Coronation Street's latest star, Andrew Lancel, popped into Liverpool's Salt House Tapas restaurant this week to try their new menu. Fresh back from London after 10 years on The Bill, Andrew was spotted doing some detective work on the new dishes with owner Patrick Smith and head chef Martin Renshaw.
