WHATEVER happened to The Likely Lads?

Well, James Bolamwent on to become one of the highest-paid stars on British TV, appearing in shows such as Only When I Laugh, The Beiderbecke Affair, The Beiderbecke Tapes, Andy Capp, The Beiderbecke Connection, Second Thoughts, Midsomer Murders, Pay and Display, Dalziel and Pascoe, Born and Bred and NewTricks.

Whatever happened to the other Likely Lad?

Well, Rodney Bewes was appointed spokesman for the British Onion Marketing Board in 1982. And nowhe's on stage in Swansea, in a one-man show looking at life as a jobbing actor in the 1880s.

An adaptation of an autobiographical book by Jerome K Jerome, best known for Three Men in a Boat, it is described as "an hilarious journey through weekly repertory theatre, touring, pantomime, stock and fit up" - although no idea if Jerome ever found himself spokesman for a vegetable marketing board.
