Despite the slowdown in equipment sales in the Chinese market, bauma China was attended by a record number of visitors, with 180,000 people visiting the Shanghai show.

Held in late November in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), the show featured displays from major Chinese manufacturers that were calculated to impress.

This included Sany, with a massive 3,600-tonne crawler and an array of large mobile cranes; Zoomlion, with the tallest concrete pump in the world; and XCMG, with the DE400 - the world's largest payload electric drive dump truck. Shantui meanwhile launched the SD90-5, a 105-tonne bulldozer with blade capacity of 45m 3 .

The footfall of approximately 180,000 visitors surpassed 2010's total of 155,615, an increase of 16%.

Zhichao Chen, marketing director at SANY Heavy Industry, praised the atmosphere of the show.

"bauma China brings us a tremendous amount of purchase orders. This trade show always has the same objective with its exhibitors: to expand and grow together."

After China, the top ten visitor countries and regions at the show were Russia, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Turkey - in that order.
