baking; Chocolate Salted Butterscotch Brownies.
Ingredients For Brownies: 185g Unsalted butter 185g Dark chocolate 85g Plain flour 40g Cocoa powder 3 Large eggs (free-range preferred) 275g Soft brown sugar 1 tsp Baking powder For Butterscotch Sauce: 250g Butter 250g Golden Syrup 250g Double cream 1 tsp Sea salt Method 1 Preheat the oven to 160C/320F/ Gas mark 4.
2 Melt the butter, golden syrup, double cream and sea salt together in a pan on a medium heat for 15 minutes until the butterscotch starts to thicken. Once thick, leave to cool.
3 Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in bowl over a pan of boiling water.
4 Break the eggs into a separate mixing bowl and mix in the brown sugar until thick and creamy.
5 Pour the cooled chocolate mixture and butterscotch sauce over the mix and fold together.
6 Sieve and fold the plain flour and cocoa powder into the combined mix.
7 Line a shallow square tin with baking parchment and evenly pour the mixture into the tin.
Bake for 40-45 minutes.
8 Remove from the oven and leave in the tin until cool. Remove and cut into squares.
9 For extra sweetness, make more butterscotch sauce and decorate with a dollop on the top. Enjoy.
