austriamicrosystems announces two new LED driver ICs for LCD TVs.
Analog IC manufacturer austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS) today announced the availability of two new LED driver ICs from its portfolio of LED BLU (backlight unit) drivers and controllers for LCD TVs.
The company said that both ICs feature power management and high accuracy to guarantee exact brightness and colour matching. The AS3695A and AS3695C include a novel power feedback regulation method for controlling external power supplies, according to the company. The devices are programmable via a SPI (serial peripheral interface) port and provide built-in safety features, including thermal shutdown and open and short LED detection.
Samples of the driver ICs are now available. Expected dates for mass production were not disclosed. The AS3695A QFN will cost USB 2.10 per 1000 units, while the AS3695C QFN and AS3695C LQFP will cost USD2.20 and USD2.70 per 1000 units, respectively.
