TELECOMWORLDWIRE-10 March 2010-austriamicrosystems announces new LED flash driver for mobile cameras(C)1994-2010 M2 COMMUNICATIONS http://www.m2.com
austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a developer and manufacturer of analogue ICs today announced a new LED flash driver which offers a higher output than existing equivalents.
The company said that its AS3645 inductive flash driver is capable of driving either single or dual LED flash systems. It can be used to drive currents of up to 1000mA. The high-side current source works with up to 2x500 mA with two LEDs in serial configuration and up to 720 mA with one LED. When driving two LEDs in series, LEDs draw identical currents and provide output light matching and thermal dissipation. The AS3645 auto detects whether to employ single or dual LED mode and enables direct one-button flashlight mode.
The AS3645 is available in a WL-CSP package (3x4 balls 0.5 mm pitch, 2x1.6 mm) and has an operating temperature range of -30A[degree sign] to +85A[degree sign]C (ambient). Volume orders for the device will cost less than USD0.90 in 1000 unit quantities.
