|GATESHEAD Harriers 5k Road Race takes place on Wednesday, August 23 with a 7pm start.

Entries for the Quayside-based race are now closed, with the limit of 500 being reached. | THE popular Tartan Games, hosted by Gateshead Harriers at the International Stadium, take place on Sunday, August 27 starting at 11am.

The programme caters for junior athletes, seniors as well as events for ambulant and wheelchair competitors.

Postal entries, which close this weekend, go to: The Tartan Games, Gateshead International Stadium, Neilson Road, Gateshead NE10 0EF. Entries also taken on line at: race-results.co. uk.

| GATESHEAD Harriers are hosting a ParaAthletics Inspiration Taster Day at the International Stadium on Saturday, August 26, from 10am until 1pm.

Qualified coaches and officials and competing athletes, including Tyneside's multi-medal Paralympian Stephen Miller (pictured below), will be on hand, overseeing sprinting, jumping and throwing events.

Everyone is welcome whether they are would-be para athletes or anyone interested in coaching or officiating for para athletics events. Further details on Gateshead Harriers website. | LOW Fell Running Club's DTA Consulting Engineers' supported Watergate 5k Trail Race is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, with a 7.15pm start.

Prior to the 5k there will be a 2k contest at 7pm for young athletes.

| SUNDERLAND Harriers' Open Cross-Country fixture at Farringdon is on Saturday, September 2, with the first event for under-11 boys and girls scheduled for 11am.

The programme closes at 12.45pm with the senior/veteran men's 4x1.8-mile relay.
