Gay Kindersley scores for the first time since October as 20-1 Great Mystery (Clive Candy) just gets the better of Imperial Family (Josh Gifford/Bob Champion) in the second part of the juvenile hurdle at Windsor.

The first leg provides a first winner for Tim Austin, as Stanaure, owned and trained by Tony Richards, is far too strong for Rullahman (Nick Gaselee/Mark Floyd, 5lb claim).

A fine reward for owners' loyalty to a small stable as King Credo (Steve Woodman/Adrian Maguire) gets the better of Rodeo Star (Nigel Tinkler/Jamie Osborne) in the Imperial Cup at Sandown. The winner may go for the County Hurdle on Thursday.

lJosh Gifford sends out his 50th winner for Jim Joel when Buck Willow (Declan Murphy) lands the odds from Maguire on Bumptious Boy (Jim Wilson) in the novice chase.

But the Sandown day is spoiled when Pegwell Bay (Tim Forster/Jamie Osborne) falls fatally at the first in the three-mile chase won by Brown Windsor (Nicky Henderson/Richard Dunwoody). His wins included the Mackeson and A F Budge Gold Cups at Cheltenham in 1988.
