a long weight for gavin's title shot; with sports betting's top tipster DEREK MCGOVERN E-MAIL: betsguru@aol.com.

Byline: ADDITIONAL REPORTING BY JOHN SHAW

FRANKIE GAVIN is probably best remembered for failing to make the weight when he was favourite to win gold at the 2008 Olympics.

Strictly speaking, it wasn't Gavin's fault - he was 3lb over, but only had four years to prepare.

There's a load of women I've dated who couldn't shift that weight in eight years. Mind you, when you're 16st, what's a couple of pounds here or there? Fast forward six years and Gavin (right) is fighting for the European welterweight title tonight against Italian hard-man Leonard Bundu.

Bundu may sound like a game of Kerplunk for posh people, but the 39-year-old still has all his marbles after 32 undefeated fights as a pro and, at 11-4, he's approaching must-bet territory.
