M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. (Nasdaq: FLSH) announced that leading Linux operating system developers are providing support for DiskOnChip in existing and upcoming Linux distributions.

Lineo, a leading developer of embedded Linux systems software, is currently integrating support for DiskOnChip into Embedix, its embedded Linux software line. Informatec AG (Frankfurt New Market Exchange Security Identification Number 622200) has also integrated DiskOnChip into its Java network technology.

Linux-based products supporting DiskOnChip are now shipping in a wide range of applications including set-top boxes, Internet infrastructure, networking and embedded devices. With the huge increase in demand for Linux in these markets, the addition of Lineo to the existing support providers will offer additional solutions to the design community.

Linux, an open source Unix-compatible operating system that is scalable down to a size as low as 1MB, is suited for use with M-Systems' DiskOnChip products that range in capacity from 8 to 288MB. Within its small footprint and solid-state nature, DiskOnChip provides ample capacity for the operating system, applications and data files needed in most Linux-based devices. DiskOnChip can also serve as a hard disk disaster recovery device in Linux-based server and Internet infrastructure applications.
