4 Land Rovers stolen by gang in single night; security warning as cars go in 60 seconds.

A GANG of car thieves are being hunted by police after four Land Rovers were stolen during an overnight crimewave.

The crooks are believed to have broken into each of the plush cars, before disabling the alarm and fleeing the scene in just 60 seconds. Police said the sophisticated thefts happened in the Stourbridge area on Monday, January 7. The 4x4s were taken from High Street in Wollaston, Rectory Road, Holly Grove and Wollescote Road. A spokesman for the force said a number of other thefts were reported in the surrounding areas at the same time. He said: "We have received reports of the theft of four Land Rovers overnight between the January 7 and January 8 in the Stourbridge area.

"All of the above vehicles have been stolen without keys and it is believed the offenders are breaking into the vehicle and disabling the alarm within a minute and making off with the vehicle. There have also been similar reports of the same offences happening on other parts of the West Midlands and Staffordshire during the same times."

Following the thefts, officers have issued a warning to Land Rover owners to step up their security measures.

They added: "Residents who own any of these types of vehicles should please take extra security measures, including purchasing a steering wheel lock. This may help deter any thefts of this type."
