European auto association elects new president.
BRUSSELS, Jan. 19 Kyodo The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said Wednesday it has elected as its new president Paolo Cantarella, chief executive officer of the Fiat Group. Cantarella will take over as the head of ACEA for the year 2000 from Ferdinand Piech, chairman and chief executive officer of Volkswagen AG. ACEA quoted Cantarella as saying competitiveness and the industry's response to greater customer and social demands will be at the forefront of the association's policy for 2000. ACEA groups 13 car, truck and bus manufacturers, including Ford Motor Co., DaimlerChrysler AG and General Motors Corp.. |
