Zurich to shed 120 Welsh jobs.

FINANCIAL services giant Zurich is closing down its Welsh warranty management services with the loss of 120 jobs in North Wales.

The jobs will be shed at the Prestatyn offices due to a decision to contract out the service to a company in the Midlands.

However, the Zurich Finance Group is hoping to create 200 new jobs in Cardiff. The company is searching for 50,000 square feet of office space from which to run its operations. Zurich claim they will do everything they can to help employees in North Wales find new jobs. Denbighshire County Council has also offered support.

The Prestatyn offices are expected to close by Christmas, by which time redundancy notices should have been issued. The warranty management company which will take over Zurich's role is understood to be called Home Service GB.
