Zucotto Wireless(TM) Presents at Red Herring's NDA 2000 Conference.

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ --

Zucotto Wireless Inc., the world leader in Java(TM) semiconductors for wireless Internet applications, has been invited to present with a number of other emerging technology leaders today at Red Herring's exclusive NDA 2000 conference.

Zucotto provides a complete, integrated development platform that combines the company's Xpresso(TM) Java semiconductors with its integrated Jacknife(TM) Development Suite. Zucotto Wireless(TM) products and technology allow application developers, OEMs, and service providers to accelerate the development of revenue-producing applications for mobile devices.

The cornerstone of the Zucotto platform is the Xpresso family of high-speed, small footprint, low-power-consumption Java native processors, designed specifically to extend the benefits of Java 2 MicroEdition (J2ME(TM)) technology to wireless multimedia devices such as cellular phones, pagers, and PDAs. Zucotto's embedded SLICE(TM) software, which binds Java applications to the Xpresso processor, combines a Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) Virtual Machine (VM) with basic operating system functionality and support for value-added extensions such as wireless multimedia.

The Zucotto platform is also the first in the world to merge Java and Bluetooth(TM) technologies in one seamless, integrated development environment. Bluetooth personal area networking is the emerging standard for short-range wireless communications, enabling low cost, cable-free sharing of data, services and multimedia between devices.

Completing the Zucotto platform is the Jacknife Development Suite. This comprehensive set of software and hardware tools enables developers to design, integrate and test advanced wireless Java device applications and services -- and bring them to market faster and more cost-effectively. The Jacknife suite includes the WHITEboard(TM) Software Development Kit (SDK) and the XPRESSOboard(TM) Hardware Development Kit (HDK), as well as documentation, training, and support.

Zucotto meets the growing demand for dynamic and secure wireless Internet services in the handheld market by combining the advantages of wireless Java technologies with embedded device development. By 2007, it is projected that there will be 154.7 million wireless subscribers in North America, 189 million subscribers in Europe, and 243 million subscribers in Asia. Zucotto is positioned as the dominant world player in this rapidly expanding wireless Java market.

Zucotto was founded in August 1999 with a strong vision of the technology and tools needed to realize the full potential of wireless Internet and multimedia technologies. The company's five founders, Mark Wells (President and CEO), Dariusz Otreba (Chief Technology Officer), Ronald Dicke (VP of Hardware), Guillaume Comeau (Chief Integration Architect) and Mike Majid (Chief Silicon Architect), have more than 50 years of combined wireless, semiconductor and Java experience with companies such as Nortel Networks, Nokia, Sun Microsystems, and Intel. Backing the founders is a topnotch executive team with a proven track record of success, providing a complementary balance in the areas of technical, organizational and marketing leadership. The company has offices in San Diego, California, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Copenhagen, Denmark. For more information, please visit www.zucotto.com.
