Zip it, Twink; MELANIE'S SHOCK AT PANTO STAR'S GERRY COMMENTS.
PANTO queen Adele King was last night told by a close friend of Melanie Verwoerd: Zip it, Twink.
The former girlfriend of tragic Gerry Ryan was stunned after the star claimed on the Late Late Show she was the last person to speak to the radio king before he died.
Yesterday baffled Melanie said Twink, 62, was "misinformed" about what happened in the hours before the 2fm presenter's death.
Melanie, 45, said it was established at the inquest that the last person he spoke to was his producer after he felt too unwell to do his show.
Last night, when contacted by the Irish Sunday Mirror, she said: "Clearly, Twink was misinformed that she was the last person to speak to Gerry. It was established at his inquest exactly what happened - and the phone records prove the same."
Close friends have revealed that Melanie is worried another "set of untruths" is being told about the star. Insiders said she is concerned misleading information will become fact in the public memory. A friend said: "If she was the last person to speak to Gerry she'd have been asked to give evidence at his inquest. It's time Twink zipped it herself."
Meanwhile, sources close to Melanie said it was stated at the inquest that the last person to speak to Gerry before his death on April 30, 2010 was his producer Alice O'Sullivan.
She told the inquest he'd left a message, she called him and he told her he was too ill to work.
Before that he had also spoken to partner Melanie, telling her: "I'm totally banjaxed, you know I am."
Another friend said: "Alice O'Sullivan, his producer at RTE, was the last person to speak to Gerry." On the Late Late Show, Twink - who is promoting her autobiography - had claimed two members of the gardai told her Gerry's last call was to her.
She said: "Two very nice boys in blue said to me, 'I don't know if you want to hear this or not but with the phone records and everything you might be pleased, or I don't know what, to hear you're the last person in the whole world he ever phoned. It was the last call on his mobile'.
"It hit a very hard note because that's the week you may remember he was so supportive when I was in hospital with my asthma.
"He phoned me every morning before the show, and every day after the show. It was when he didn't phone that day I got very, very worried."
Twink added: "I know him a lifetime and it was a very quiet friendship.
"It was very deep, it was never publicity. It was never me and Gerry, Gerry and Twink. It was always just four o'clock in the morning if you just needed a pal, he was there or I was there. It was a very great, deep friendship."
Last night, Twink failed to respond when contacted by the Irish Sunday Mirror.
