Zimbabwe : Quail bird production latest craze to hit Zimbabwe's poultry sector.

In a bid to boost their output and deepen profit making in a regional industry that is staving off imports and increasing feed-stock costs,

various capacity building projects are being launched in Africa to provide poultry producers with support.

Producers have a new poultry breed in Zimbabwe, that is sprouting up and which helps to rake in the profits.

The production of quail bird is the latest craze to hit Zimbabwe's poultry sector.

Producers are finding quail production especially profitable due to the quail birds' meat and eggs high nutritional value and high prices.

The quail birds are also relatively easy to raise and call for a relatively smaller space compared to chickens.

Agricultural economist, Gift Hlazo, said,"The quail business is very economical and it is likely to surpass other forms of poultry in the near future. Farmers are encouraged to take advantage of the high demand for the quail birds and grow their businesses."
