Zethus, Inc. Assembles Senior Management Team Talented Team to Move Commercial Real Estate Transactions Online.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 2000

Zethus, Inc., the innovative web-based commercial real estate transaction platform backed by Goldman, Sachs & Co., today announced the appointment of its senior management team. The senior management team consists of veterans of the commercial real estate industry who have more than 140 years of combined experience. The team is comprised of: Tom Bacon, Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer; Jim Hime, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer; Chris Hughes, Senior Vice President-Sales; Ann Kifer, Senior Vice President of Marketing Communications; Jeffrey Scott, Co-Founder and President of the Zethus Sales Division; Frank Sullivan, Principal-Sales; and Jeff Walker, Senior Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel. .

This team's vast real estate expertise earned at some of the country's most successful real estate and professional services firms, is being harnessed to re-engineer and web-enable the commercial real estate marketplace.

With more than 21 years of experience in commercial real estate, Tom Bacon is Chief Operating Officer and President. Bacon's areas of expertise include finance, acquisition, development and leasing. Prior to forming Zethus, he was a Senior Vice President with the-international Hines real estate firm. During his tenure with Hines, Bacon was involved in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and sale of office, residential and industrial real estate representing more than $1.5 billion in value. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Architecture, Bacon received his MBA from Rice University.

As Chief Executive Officer, Hime brings to Zethus more than 24 years of experience in commercial real estate as a finance executive and practicing attorney. Prior to forming Zethus, Hime served as a Senior Vice President in Central Finance with Hines. While with Hines, he was responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating and financing development and acquisition transactions. He was particularly involved in new strategies, initiatives and financing vehicles, and new technology ventures. Hime received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin.

A 16-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, Chris Hughes, Senior Vice President in the Sales Division, is responsible for overseeing Zethus' sales platform and process. Prior to joining the firm, Hughes was a Vice President in the Washington, D.C. office of Hines. He serves as Co-Vice-Chairman on the Board of Directors & Executive Committee of Washington's Downtown Business Improvement District. He is also on the executive committee of The Real Estate Group of Washington, D.C. Hughes received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southern Methodist University.

As Senior Vice President of Marketing Communications, Ann Kifer's responsibilities include global branding, public relations, advertising and communications. Formerly Vice President of Corporate Communications for Hines, Kifer led Hines' global communications, public relations, advertising and marketing initiatives for the last twelve years. While with Hines, she developed the firm's successful corporate branding campaign, launched the firm's initial Web strategy and expanded the firm's marketing into more than 17 U.S. cities and 14 foreign markets. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism degree and completed post-graduate studies in Fine Art at Sotheby's in London.

Jeffrey Scott is Co-Founder and President of Zethus' Sales Division. With more than 16 years of experience in finance and commercial real estate, Scott was formerly a Managing Director and Partner of the Real Estate Capital Markets Group at Arthur Andersen. During his tenure at Arthur Andersen, the Real Estate Capital Markets Group's activities included portfolio dispositions, project finance, private placements, strategic advisory and mergers and acquisitions. Scott graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics.

With more than 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Frank Sullivan is Principal of Zethus' Sales Division. His areas of expertise include dispositions, acquisitions, joint ventures, and financing of investment grade properties in all sectors, and building top-tier sales teams. Before joining Zethus, Sullivan was the Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle's Investment Sales and Finance Group and co-head of the firm's Investment Banking Group. Sullivan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College.

As Senior Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel, Jeffrey Walker brings more than 14 years of experience in domestic and international real estate acquisition, development and finance to the firm. Prior to joining Zethus, Walker was a partner with the law firm of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn, PLLC. While at Arent Fox, he was responsible for establishing a consortium of three public companies that constructed a Pan-European fiber optic network. Walker received his law degree from George Washington University and his undergraduate degree from Columbia University.
